Description

This is the 2024 instalment of the distillery's On the Way release, produced with floor-malted barley. A single malt whisky distillery in Japan, located within the city of the same name in the Saitama Prefecture. It was established in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto and significantly expanded in 2019 with the opening of a second distillery called Chichibu 2. This is the fourth edition in the 'On the Way' series, which showcases the distillery's journey towards producing fully matured whiskies. It is a vatting of casks aged from 9-15 years, with an average age of 11 years, and is non-chill filtered and natural color.

Vibrant notes of kumquat and loquat, complemented by honey, vanilla, luscious orchard fruits, toasted barley, juicy plums, peaches, and a subtle hint of citrus zest. A delicate wisp of peat and soft smoke may emerge.

Smooth and velvety with creamy textures of condensed milk and yogurt. An explosion of ripe fruits like pears and apples, balanced with caramel notes and spiced oak. A fine underlay of nuts and a gentle smokiness are present.
